Real Wedding | Odette and Jovi
Post by Your Queensland Wedding
What was special to you about your wedding?
All of our guests were amazing. The bridal party was beyond incredible. As Jovi is Tokelauan our wedding day wouldn’t have been the same without the incorporation of his culture and traditions. The one thing that stood out above anything else were the cultural dances called “fateles” performed by his family.
How did you go about planning your wedding?
The planning process went pretty smoothly for our wedding with no major hiccups. I had a lot of help from my mum Barbara and my sister Yasmin. Jovi’s family were unbelievable as well. His mum Ana was busy communicating with her family in New Zealand, and they were all a huge help. They practiced their fateles (cultural items) for months and months before the wedding. They worked tirelessly on these items and it was evident with their performance on the day. We will be forever grateful for all of the help we received from our family and friends.
What was the one thing you just had to have for your wedding day?
The photo booth. It allowed our guests to have fun at the reception and gave us the best gifts as we received a book with all of the photos in it at the end of the night.
Do you have any tips for future couples?
Stay calm, enjoy the process and make sure you take time out during the day to take little mental photographs, as
the time flies by so quickly!
Did you honeymoon, where and for how long?
Jovi and I are heading to Las Vegas, San Francisco & New York this June for three weeks. We are very much looking forward to our trip away.
